It's time again for another Cafepress.com feature. Cafepress lets you place your own designs on a range of different products, simply for your own use, or to sell to the world. If you are interested in learning more or joining, please click here.
Today's television-related design is inspired by the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and originates from Completely Glorious... But Completely Un-named Store.
The show centred around Buffy Summers, the latest in a line of young women chosen to battle the forces of darkness. It began as somewhat light-hearted and quite formulaic, with the demon of the week defeated successfully by Buffy and her friends. As the show progressed, it became darker and more profound, delving further into mythology, philosophy and post-modernism.
One of my favourite episodes of Buffy is Restless, the final episode of season 4. It is atypical of a finale, as it doesn't contain an epic battle or a cliff-hanger. Rather, it acts as a bridge between the two seasons - examining the themes featured throughout episodes preceding it, while hinting at future storylines. It follows the journey of Willow, Xander, Giles and Buffy through their restless dreams, and the result is a wonderful mix of their subconscious thoughts, bizarre occurances and prophecy. One character that appears in all the dreams is the Cheese Man, whose presence is the only one without explanation. He is what truly gives significance to the dreams, despite the fact that he symbolises nothing - dreams may be a manifestation of our unrealised fears and desires, but there will always be elements to the mind that remain mysterious. The shirt has emblazoned across it one of the Cheese Man's most random comments - "I wear the cheese. It does not wear me."
This design is available on a range of products, so take a look at Completely Glorious. Also, don't forget to visit my store, Meme Me.
