Thoughts on Knight Rider, Redux - Revisited
October 12th 2008 01:47
While it still feels like an up jumped piece of generic syndicated offal, it has gotten better over the past couple of episodes. However, it is often a show I leave running in the background, while I work on other things, and only rewind to catch something important, if I feel I missed it. The characterizations are gaining a bit more depth and mystery, plus some of the supporting cast is good, plus Smith Cho and Deanna Russo are nice eye-candy for make views with Yancy Aries and Justin Bruening being the fair for the ladies.
One thing that they've done is cut down on the silly need to constantly flip to the internal, CGI machinations of KITT's internals during one power stunt or the other, which was distracting and annoy. In a lot of ways, the show is slowly moving toward being an organic evolution of the original Knight Rider, with a modernization of Knight Industries, and matching the situations of today, as oppose to the eighties.
Now, don't get me wrong, in no way, shape, or form is this high minded drama, it is guilty pleasure television that could evolve into something more. There is a modest level of interpersonal drama, some character development, a mysterious aspect to Mike's past, and even some potential for KITT to turn into a true AI, so I'm for giving this show a few more episodes to get going.
Of course, this is only because Knight Rider plays on two nights now and the Saturday replay is where I get my viewing from, but it's something that it's kept my attention a bit longer.
What do you think about the show? Do you like it? Dislike it? What and why?
Please, feel free to share.
