Which people would you like to see on Thank God You’re Here?
For those unfamiliar with the show, Thank God You’re Here is fundamentally about the art of bullshitting. The contestants (mostly comedians, but some celebrities) walk through a door into an unknown scenario, greeted by ‘Thank God you’re here.’ Their task is to improvise their way through the scene, which, as you can imagine, usually has hilarious results. It airs on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm on Network Ten.
This is the most successful new Australian show of 2006, and the format has now been sold to ten countries, including the US. Kudos should be given to the Working Dog Team, the guys behind the series, as they do great work for Australian television. If you haven’t seen an episode, an excerpt appears on the show's website. Various clips have also been posted on YouTube.
So, my question to Australian viewers is - which people would you like to see as a guest on the show? There have been some more unusual participants as of late (Anthony Fields, aka the Blue Wiggle, and Andrew G of Australian Idol fame) so don’t feel limited by the typical comedic guests. As for those of you further afield, such as the US, who would you like to see as guests, host and judge when the show hits your shores?
Apparently Arj Barker is going to be on tonight, which I’m very excited about. As for other guests I would like to see, I think that Dave Hughes would be a good choice – despite the somewhat slow persona he takes on, he can be quite quick as evidenced in certain segments of the Glass House. Ross Noble would also be a great contestant – his absolute insanity would make for interesting viewing. Other comedic guests I would like to see would be Andrew Denton and Meshel Laurie – both are very quick and would do a great job. It would be interesting to put a politician in there too. They spend their whole career bullshitting, so it should be a breeze.

Great post. And some good ideas for guests. I think Ross Noble would be spectacular on the show. The man is so off the wall, the scenarios would be hilarious. And I agree on Dave Hughes and Meshel Laurie too.
My suggestions would include:
- Adam Hills from Spicks and Specks would be good. He's likeable, funny and he's very quick witted.
- Mick Molloy - I think he'd be fantastic. Apparently he never does much preparation for his radio/comedy, most of it is made up as he goes along. So he'd come up with good stuff.
- Jana Wendt - for no other reason than I'd love to see how she copes on a show like this. Big departure from the norm for her.
- Bert Newton - hell, Bert's on everything else. Why not this. He'd be cheesy, but who doesn't love Bert?
- Paul McDermott - sure it's a long time since his Doug Anthony All Stars days, but he's extremely quick and I think he'd be great fun to watch.
- Adam Spencer - I have to admit I LOVE the very geeky Adam Spencer, but he's extremely smart and really funny. He could throw in lots of maths stuff too, just to mess with everyone else in the skit.
I was actually impressed the other week with the girl from that Channel 10 show The Wedge. I didn't expect anyone from that show to be the least bit funny (as the show certainly isn't), but she was really good. Too bad I can't for the life of me remember her name!!!

Some great suggestions there. I can't believe I forgot to include Paul McDermott. I've always thought he was the funniest of DAAS. And don't be ashamed about loving Adam Spencer - as the saying goes, geek is chic
