Jackson Siblings Search For Family Talent
April 12th 2007 08:50
I don’t profess to understand reality television. The appeal of either watching or competing in it generally escapes me. However, I can see the attraction of the ‘talent’ type shows – most people would like to be recognised for their abilities, and the chance to be judged and exposed to powerhouses of the industry would be a great opportunity.
What I really can’t wrap my head around is a new CBS reality show that seeks to find the next family singing sensation. The three judges of Pop Dynasty will be Michael Jackson’s older siblings, Tito, Jermaine and LaToya. There is no word as of yet whether Michael or Janet will take part in the programme.
While certainly not my cup of tea, I suppose that some people fancy the idea of being an all-singing Partridge-esk family. What I can’t comprehend is why anyone would want to take advice from the Jacksons – after all, the scandal-prone brood is hardly the model of family unity. And isn’t there supposed to be a little something about the judges being successful in their industry? I know Tito and Jermaine were part of the Jackson 5, but they are hardly illustrations of career longevity. Not to mention the various mental health issues present within the clan…
Then again, perhaps the judges will serve as a reminder to the contestants of just how wrong things can go. Pop Dynasty – Don’t Mess It Up Like We Did.

Well I reckon you've answered your own questions with that extremely catchy title:
That says it all, doesn't it!

myself, i'm waiting for flavor flav to do his next reality tv program. hopefully it's something catchy like 'search for the world's next side kick that can say 'yeah boooyie', or 'search for the world's best side kick that also has a bit of crack problem'. cbs would lap that up!
is there nothing left to do a reality show on?

I decided to look up Flavor Flav to see what he is doing now. Scarily enough, he already has his own reality show, entitled Flavor of Love, on VH1. He basically chooses women in the style of The Bachelor. I'm not sure if saying 'yeah boooyie' increases their chances. Apparently he gives all the women nicknames, because his memory is shot due to all the drugs he's done. As you said, quality television!
