My Thoughts on FX's Testees
October 24th 2008 23:45
So, I'm the kind of guy who enjoys comedies, yet normally avoids them, save for if I'm hanging out with someone who wants to watch a comedy. It's odd, because I'm normally into comedies, love the humor, and just dig the whole satire and irony thing, yet I just don't watch them that much. But, thanks to doing this blog, I've expanded my horizons, which brings me to FX's Testees.
As you can see, even the title brings a fun, juvenile giggle to most folks and if you didn't laugh, even a little bit, I'm so sorry and sad for you. *grins*
Testees follows Pete and Ron, a pair of human test subjects, known as testees, for a company called Testco, which tests consumer products, specifically on the aforementioned duo. I'm sure you can just imagine the various hijinks that ensue, but trust me....it's so much more wrong than what you're first thinking.
The level this show sinks to, the wrong jokes, juvenile humor, nudity, language, and just messed up wrongness is beyond many shows, but it is definitely a solid follow-up show to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It is so wrong, so vile, so hilarious that I can't even describe a lot of it without going so blue you'd think I'm a smurf's butt.
In addition to Pete and Ron, we've their friends, Nugget and Kate, and their own side stories that add to the tale of the Testees. Nugget is, well, the uber-slacker who has followed the Tao of Slack to such a degree that he's got more slack than a coil of rope laying on the ground in a loose pile. Next is Kate, the cute bar owner who seems a bit smarter then her friends, yet is right down in the dirt with them, most of the time. Heck, when the guy's are put through a temporary sex change procedure she helps Ron by throwing a bash for lesbians, so that Ron can score with one...who happens to be one of his ex-girlfriends who turned lesbian due to his lacking as a lover.
If you're a fan of old school low-brow humor of Fletch, Meatballs, National Lampoons, and other classics, then you'll definitely enjoy Testees.
