Must See Comedy - MICF Gala and Danny Bhoy
Tonight the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala will be broadcast at 8.30pm on Network Ten.
Recorded on the opening night of the Festival, it features an array of local and international award-winning performers, with a proportion of the proceeds going to Oxfam. Some of this year's acts include Adam Hills, Akmal Saleh, Dave Hughes, Tim Minchin, Stephen K Amos, Ardal O’Hanlon, Jason Byrne and many more. It's definitely worth tuning in for this annual event, as it showcases some of the best and funniest comedy that the world has to offer.
Speaking of comedians, I went to see Danny Bhoy in Brisbane on Saturday night. It was an absolutely fantastic show, and the Scottish-born comic was utterly hilarious. His style is very improvisational, casual and conversational - almost like a chat at the local pub. He has a tendency to go off on tangents during his routine, but has an amazing ability to return to the original tale and bring the audience along with him.
I was fortunate enough to have a front row seat, and I must say that he is very easy on the eyes. Plus he has that gorgeous accent. I really do try to avoid being a pathetic fangirl, but this is one instance where I have well and truly lost the battle.
If you get the chance to see one of Danny Bhoy's performances, I highly recommend it. My cheeks still hurt from laughing so much. He is currently touring Australia, and his tour dates can be seen on his official website.

I admit that I only flicked onto the show a couple of times as there was something else that I was watching. What I saw, it was a bit disappointing, and didn't seem quite up to the usual standard. I didn't see Akmal on there at all - was he cut out, or did I just miss him?

I went to see Ross Noble on Saturday night. I have to see him every year. He's hilarious. A bit mental, but very very funny.
Akmal only did a really short clip asking viewers to donate. I don't think he did a stand up bit (or if he did, I missed it completely....and I think I watched most of it).

I've never heard of him... thanks for the heads up! I will check him out...
Lilla ...
I read on another site that Akmal was in the show, but he (and some others) were cut out. It must be quite disappointing for a performer to find that they are cut out of the broadcast!

Unfortunately I found out last night that we've missed the Sydney run, and it's now in Melbourne
Not really surprising. After all, it was the COMEDY gala...

Hey now, be nice!
I had heard his bit was quite funny, that why I was surprised it wasn't in the broadcast...
